Card Player Media
Card Player Media, publisher of top-ranked
poker player magazine Card Player, recently
chose CyberArts as software provider for
their new SpadeClub online poker service.
SpadeClub Poker is a subscription-based
poker community whose members play for
$100,000 in cash prizes each month.
"We wanted extensive customization for
SpadeClub that only CyberArts could supply"
said Barry Shulman, Card Player Media CEO.
"We needed a flexible, stable platform,
backed by a world-class custom software
development team.
Card Player had a specific vision for the
"look and feel" and functionality of
SpadeClub Poker, which included a distinct,
branded design for the game and the
lobbies. They wanted the ability to easily
add sponsor logos to game tables, as well as
comprehensive advertising support, custom
avatars, unlimited table backgrounds,
viewable tournament blind structures,
standard or four-color deck choices, and
social networking features like "Buddy
lists."
"A stable software platform, able to support
very high player volumes without crashing,
was a key requirement for us," continued
Shulman. "With over 50,000 unique site
visitors per day, and more than 300,000
opt-in subscribers to our e-newsletter, we
expect big numbers to take advantage of
the opportunity to play the game they love
online - legally."
CyberArts' ability to create games in any
language and currency was an important
factor in Schulman's decision. Card Player
magazine is the world's largest poker
publication, with editions published in all
English-speaking countries and Brazil, Italy,
France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Russia,
Spain and Norway.
Shulman also placed high value on
working with a seasoned, professional
software development team. "CyberArts'
professionalism - their willingness to listen
and adapt to our needs, consistently meet
deadlines and maintain open lines of
communication, 24/7, have been crucial to
making this project successful - and a real
pleasure for us."
