Fight the Landlord

Besides being famous for its spicy food, the Sichuan region of China is also celebrated as the birthplace of an addictive card game called Fight the Landlord—a pastime which quickly spread beyond Sichuan's borders. Today, just as most of America has a craze for Texas hold'em, most of China is embroiled in Fight the Landlord. The game is extensively played online.

In each hand, one player–the landlord–plays alone. The other players form a team playing against him. As in Big2, the landlord's aim is to be the first to play out all of his cards. The team wins if any one of its players manages to play all his cards before the landlord. There are many different ways to determine which player will be the landlord.

A game where wagering can climb quickly. When a Bomb is played betting is doubled—and so is the rake.
